Round 10 will be "Maldita Castilla". A free game by Locomalito, released in 2012.
It's a platform game which has obviously been inspired by things like Ghouls & Ghosts. It's beautiful, challenging, and extremely fun!
We'll just leave round 9 going indefinitely until we care to finish it. :) No need for too strict of rules here I think.

Personally I like the visual style better without the fake scanlines, so I've disabled them. ("Disable overlay" in the in-game options). Has a much cleaner look.
ReplyDeleteOK, I just played and got score of 88,180 on 1 credit. I got to the boss after the caves where you fight the "Guardian Soul". I will confess that a few days ago when I played it, I credit fed the game and used about 8 credits to get to the forest level... It really helped me learn the middle sections of the game though. (Previously I had only really played the first few levels).
ReplyDeleteThe pacing of the game is sooo good! The levels are never too long before you get to a boss, and so it stays exciting. So cool!
I think I'm gonna play some Batsugun now!
I've just played it for the real first time. Really good game. The control feels nice. Did you noticed that when you jump from a static position you can still nudge a little bit to the left or right? That sort of details is what makes the control feel so good I think.
ReplyDeleteThe first two levels are too easy, though the graphics are so nice that it's still enjoyable to play. The third level (or is it the second or fourth?) with the windmills is where the action really starts IMO. The boss is really hard to beat, I came close but didn't.
Interesting the "sell your soul" comment after 4 credits, for sure there must be a follow up to that, like a different ending or such.
It's a gem as far as I'm concerned. It's not too often to come across a new game with a retro style that feels that good.
Whoo, played tonight and got my highest score yet - 91130. It was at the boss after the caves level. These ghosts come out from all directions, pretty hard stuff.
